KITCHEN POEM

12/16/01

Bacon:

pops and sizzles for the ears,

aroma for the nose. For the nose,

aroma of coffee, burbling in the

percolator, fat blue scent of milk.

Brown smell of hot yellow butter. Warm

yellow butter and hot bread. Good greasy

bacon gravy. Hot fried eggs, busted

runny yellow yolks.  Strong female voices

laugh, lie, whisper, scold, cajole,

teach

pie-crust

secrets.
